The version 10 release of UltraBac and UBDR Gold backup and disaster recovery software introduces a new Cloud Device, Deduplication Option, and new vSphere Agent functionality.
Online, November 16, 2015 (Newswire.com) - UltraBac Software, the provider of first-to-market features for Windows and Linux backup and disaster recovery for physical and virtual machines, today announced the launch of UltraBac and UBDR Gold Version 10 with new BDR options. UltraBac v10 now offers a flexible cloud device that gives users the unprecedented ability to choose their own cloud storage solution from any of the major cloud providers. First, create an account directly with Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Google, HP Helion, Rackspace, or OpenStack. Next, license the UltraBac Cloud Device, set the backup path, and then schedule or run ad-hoc backups to your provider of choice. Since OpenStack is open source, users also have a number of commercial alternatives, including the ability to easily implement a private in-house cloud at little to no cost.
Another major addition to v10 is client-side deduplication for single instance storage (SIS). SIS stores common files and/or blocks, so instead of backing up duplicate data from every protected machine, for every backup, UltraBac's Deduplication Server only stores one copy (based on user defined parameters). Client-side deduplication enables faster backups that use significantly less network bandwidth and storage resources. Deduplication can also be implemented in UltraBac's optional agents for Exchange, SQL, vSphere, and Hyper-V. UltraBac's Deduplication Option provides local SIS for speed, cloud SIS for off-site redundancy, and a hybrid SIS model offering both local and cloud storage for the best of both worlds.
Our solutions offer the ultimate in backup flexibility, and can provide significant cost savings by giving customers choices in every aspect of utilizing them.
Users of the UltraBac vSphere Agent can now back up and restore non-Windows virtual machines. In the event of a failure, users can easily restore whole virtual machines with all configuration settings. For the enterprise, a new utility automates the process of a mass VM migration to an off-site, standby datacenter should a disaster require such an operation.
Key Reasons to Select UltraBac and UBDR Gold v10 for Advanced Data Protection:
- UltraBac Cloud Device: A new connectivity device for servers and workstations to store backups on the major cloud provider of choice (Amazon S3, Google, HP Helion, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack, or Rackspace).
"UltraBac Software endeavors to provide its users with innovative options to stay abreast of, or to further advance, the ever changing backup and disaster recovery market," said Morgan Edwards, President and CEO of UltraBac Software. "Our solutions offer the ultimate in backup flexibility, and can provide significant cost savings by giving customers choices in every aspect of utilizing them, enabling end-users to customize their level of data protection to match their budget and risk tolerance."
The new Cloud Device and Deduplication Option, as well as UltraBac and UBDR Gold, are available for purchase by permanent license or an annual subscription.
